Scouting Companions

Going around the endless maze of the Tall Town turns out to be enduring. Leveraging of the support of a group of young scouts is a plus: the quest never ends, energies regenerate behind each corner or soon after sipping from a fountain.

Building Tops of the Tall Town

Wandering through the streets of the Tall Town provides reasons for feeling strong physical and psychical emotions. To help this process out, the constant walking on uncertain cobblestone with the neck tilted back, looking at the tops. I always wonder how nice it must be, for the people living into those little rooms, sitting at the windowsill in a cold December afternoon and staring at the big picture coming in through the glass.

Tall Trees of the Tall Town

The Tall Town has necessarily little space for trees. It is surrounded by woods, up and down hill but the old buildings were pulled up one leaning to the next one. The alleys of its maze were made large enough to only let a chariot pass through. Yet, in the orchards of some lucky mansions, a cypress was planted to slowly nd silently reach the sky over the red tiles of the roofs.

Gates of the Tall Town

Alleys, narrow lanes, old gates. Where history overlays, bricks over marbles, plasters of different ages. Surprisingly there's still someone who has time to sit on the doorsteps of an old palace and open a paper book.

Piazza Navona - I

If it's true (any one to argue?) that Rome is the center of the World, then Piazza Navona in the days between Christmas and the Epiphany is the center of such center. People from everywhere seem to have gathered here. Street artists make their best to show off their skills and attract people passing by. In these days everyone is well disposed to offer a little tip for few minutes of happiness.

An Escherian Town

Arch and bridge of the old citadel unique access point. Layer upon layer of different ages: each with its human interventions.

A Sanctuary

It doesn't happen so often to get out night time when I'm home. The night of the local primary school Xmas recital is an exception and it's great to see some corner of the town I'm living in with the same "eye" that I use to have when I'm business travelling. In some extent feels like the town got a little bit more yours than ever.

Oh! The sunshine!

After a full week of heavy rainfalls the sun came in. Unfortunately, now it's time to get back to work and spend the coming sunny days closed into a meeting room or sitting in front of a monitor crossed by hundreds of waveforms. Sh**!

Encripted Message

While looking for clues that got me closer to the solution of my current quest, I came across these two arrangements of tiles, carefully layered upon freshly unwrapped "cotto" tiles.
At first I though about the result of some children game. Yet, as a telecoms engineer who spends endless hours on coding and encryption algorithms, I couldn't be able to resist the temptation of looking for an incidental meaning in them. The only one I was able to spot was a tilt and shift ... which has anyhow some kind of appeal.

Translation attempts are welcome. Please comment if any. :-)

In Search Of ...

I wrote that I used part of my time, during my latest stay in Tivoli, searching for traces of the local site of the Institute. I'm not sure if I set myself on the right track. Along one of my daily walks I stumbled upon (or better, under) this kind of inaccessible fortress. It is told to be a nunnery. In my past life in Tivoli I don't remember having seen any nun coming out of it. Facing this side of the building, right over the narrow street passing beneath, a huge ravine that leads down to the gorge carved by the Anio river in the last millions of years.

Campo de' Fiori - III

Warm colors again.
As Marco wrote in one of his comments, a place like this historical market in Rome deserves colors. It wouldn't be the same without. In some extent, this is in tune with the general atmosphere of this beginning of year. We need sparkling colors, we need sounds: fireworks to shed the gloominess that fell upon us in recent years.
