[Poetry] may make us from time to time a little aware of the deeper unnamed feelings which form the substratum of our being, to which we rarely penetrate; for our lives are mostly a constant evasion of ourselves. T.S.Eliot

Franka is in Milan
My latest commitment
I came back from the first half of this year's holiday last Sunday night. I had to be in office on Monday morning. No chance to delay my return in the open space. On my way to work I was feeling quite annoyed about this but I couldn't help it. That's typical: when a vacation goes smoothly and everything looks fine its days always look shorter and your will to go back to work strives to reappear. I walked as in a slow-motion film those two hundred meters from the underground station to my work, wishing not to be spotted by any colleague in the attempt to postpone the unavoidable description of trip, beaches, accommodation and food.
Yet, as soon as I entered the reception I had a pleasant notice from my reception responsible. A small cardboard package had been waiting for me for some days. Soon the dust in my memory blew up in a cloud and I started smiling at the idea of the old fashionable Lady to take around with me for a while.
"Franka" is actually a German camera, Franka Solida Record T, built around 1958 by Franka Kamerawerk Bayreuth. I'll keep her for a month or maybe more, before handing it over to another 591er. Her captures will be recorded on a dedicated website I already talked about. Now it's time to look for some 120 mm rolls and walk around Milan, Rome and who knows in which other town.

How to load Franka
It's about time to leave for some holidays. Starting from next weekend I'll be splashing myself somewhere on an Island, leaving behind my shoulders this hot and humid town for a fortnight.Once back a new old lady should be waiting for me in my office. Her name is Franka and my 591pal, Paolo, has just prepared a video to show how it must be loaded and unloaded with a 120 film roll.
Franka is touring around the world. Next month will be in Milan. You can follow her travel on her dedicated pages.

Ruhollah Mahmoudi
I just posted on 591 a stunning series from a young talented Iranian photographer: Ruhollah Mahmoudi. I believe it's worth a careful look, as well as a walk through his professional and generous website. I'm very happy to have contributed this series (and a new one about to be published) to be shown to a wider audience. In these vivid and living images I find the same appeal and sense of presence I use to find on those series published by world famous reportage magazines.

Flower Power
Time to blow the dust off.
591 Photography has just waged a new campaign called "Flower Power", collecting any kind of picture about flowers. The contribution we are receiving are worth of an exhibition that I hope we'll be able to set up and put on display. Anyone can give his/her contribution. Submissions will be accepted all along the incoming Summer. You can dive through the currently received picture by clicking exactly HERE!
This happening gave me the chance to remove the dust off some good pictures I took years ago in the meadow standing in front of my office building.
