This is the time when we're in between looking forward and looking back ...
[Poetry] may make us from time to time a little aware of the deeper unnamed feelings which form the substratum of our being, to which we rarely penetrate; for our lives are mostly a constant evasion of ourselves. T.S.Eliot

Summer's End
Every year, I use to take a long walk before dawn on the last day of our vacations. The luggage is packed, the car is loaded, the sheets of our beds are folded and stacked up on the table, the fridge is empty and the night has been very short. Kids have been playing with their ephemeral Summer friends till late in the evening; we've been talking with their parents about our lives and marvelling how their daily issues that they face are surprisingly the same than ours, notwithstanding the long distance and the different life styles that divide us.
And then, once the lights are off a long train of thoughts comes in and steals some more time to your sleep. And you wonder, hypnotized by the rolling wings of the ventilator hanging on the ceiling.
So, at some point of your sleep an unexpected sense of irreversibility takes shape and makes you slip off your bed and silently put on your sandals ad walk away.

Mediterraneo - I
A real pity I can't transmit to you the sound and the pressure of the wind, the roar of the crushing waves few meter away on the cutting lava tongues sliding into the water, the smell of salt in the dried up pools, the noise of thousands cicadas at dawn and the seagulls flying around over your head.

Time to leave
This is my last day here in Vieste, where I spent the first half of my summer holidays. After some hundreds of pictures taken with both my "official" camera and the mobile I've been posting from just recently, I managed to fool the control system of my mobile cam and get a perfectly blurred picture of a dawn. Looks like it was the best option I had to close this period with a picture that brings to my mind the idea of a fading transition.
In the coming days I'll keep posting some of the samples that I took while walking along the white tufa coastline of the so called "spur" of the Italian peninsula.

The Kite Theory
In a well built and lead team, who sustains who? I'm on a beach and the last thing I should think about is work. Nevertheless, I find "food for thoughts" almost everywhere. It's the effect of the early vacation days. I'm pretty sure things will be different in a couple of weeks.
