Feste di Piazza

Not far from the city center, opposite to the river banks, the so called MariaHilferPlatz is enlightened as never before. The big wheel turns without people. They are all below, drinking their mulled wine.

And the boat goes on ...

Milano, Naviglio Grande, one week ago. In a typical misty afternoon of this unusually dry winter half town seems to be converging here. The other half is crammed around Piazza Duomo and La Scala, where the lyrical season opening is in progress.
I can hardly walk inside this endless worm of people moving aimlessly along the channel banks. I think it's simply because they don't have anything else to do and anywhere else to go. What everyone cares is just to be out of home and walk with someone to talk to. So do I.
Looks like that people have less to spend this year. Crowded streets but empty shops. I'm just another one among them but I have other concerns: little time and no idea.

Then a boat takes its load of people and goes on and on, till it disappears in he mist.

Life in the Dried Up Reef

This year the "tall town", on my canonical Christmas Eve walk, was looking more like a coral bank, with strange floaters everywhere inviting people to raise their sight to the sky.

Piazza Navona - I

If it's true (any one to argue?) that Rome is the center of the World, then Piazza Navona in the days between Christmas and the Epiphany is the center of such center. People from everywhere seem to have gathered here. Street artists make their best to show off their skills and attract people passing by. In these days everyone is well disposed to offer a little tip for few minutes of happiness.

In wait ...

These are frantic days. A lot of work to be carried on before the year ends. Leftover to be put in place and scored as "done". Introspective thinking to this year results. Short term plans, long term plans. Christmas gifts to look around, strategic decisions to be taken about where to spend the following days, when to move across the land, what to be done before getting back to work. And yet, there's a long term trust that moves us on. A never ending wait for something we're not sure what it is and how will it ever come up. Feels like we're always in wait.
